Me and my friends want to help handicapped people with the world's cheapest smart home solution. And we need extra help in Android programming.
I need a very simple GUI with two textboxes (one for sending and one for receiving serial data) (focus should be on first textbox by default when you open the app) and an options page for serial port related settings (such as speed, port and bluetooth related - eg. key, channel etc.).
You can write to this textbox, if a command (commands are about 25 different English words) is recognized then the app should send specific characters to the pre-specified serial port related to that command, and should continuously listen data on serial (bluetooth) port and the result should be written to textbox2.
e.g. if "led1" is entered to the textbox, then "#W01" should be sent to serial port and so on.
After that, the textbox1 contents are cleared and the app should be ready to detect the next command.
If a new command-character pair must be added, this should be easy in the JAVA code.
App must run as a system service, so it will not be interrupted.
Please also comment the code. That will be perfectly enough for documentation.
Project license: Open source - General Public License version 2 or later (GPL v2 is fine)
Android API: 4.1 if possible.
4.4 may be considered if there is a strong reason for it.
Serial ports are probably still not supported by official Android SDK but this library may help:

If you want to help handicapped people, then this is your chance.
I'm a student and I know that this 30$ is just a symbolic amount.
But your contribution can change the world and will not be forgotten, a million thanks if you can help us!
Thank you,
