Industry On-line Hub

The project involves the development of an online industry hub that caters to members of an industry (e.g. Electrical Engineering). There will be several primary entities whom will be users of the portal. a. Students - those who are still studying in courses related to the industry and will be joining the industry when they graduate. b. Consultants - those who do provide their skills and expertise on a free-lance and consultancy basis, usually charging by project. c. Business Owners - those who own businesses or companies providing products or services related to the industry. d. Suppliers - those who provide raw materials or processed supplies within the industry, either through their businesses/companies or on individual basis. e. Workers - those who are employed by business owners and represent the companies/businesses that they work for. Similar to consultants except for the fact that the services that they provide appear to come from the businesses/companies they are employed by. f. Educational/Enrichment Centres - these are private or government owned centres that provide improvement or upgrading courses for members of the industry. g. Financiers - these are banks, venture capitalists, finance companies that provide financial products and services to members of the industry such as loans, insurance policies, etc. h. Clients - these are individuals or businesses/companies that have projects on-hand and who are seeking competitive bids from students/consultants/business owners to work on these projects. Through extensive marketing, the members of the industry will subscribe to suitable access plans (with corresponding access rights and levels to the portal). They will pay annual fees in order to enjoy the hub effect that the portal will create. Hub effect in essence would be: a. Economies of scale for suppliers and buyers b. Convenience of supply and project bidding/matching c. One-stop job searching and matching d. Centralised resource database (whitepapers, etc) e.
