Hello, I have a dedicated server (Linux, CentOS 7) with two disks mounted in Soft RAID 1. Yesterday one of the two disks crashed and i had to replace the faulty disk with a new one. Although the server has now a brand new disk i am unable to boot the server. I am therefore looking for someone to 1) See why the server is not booting on the working disk (data is still accessible) and fix the problem using rescue mode. 2) Once the server is up again, rebuild the RAID and sync the data from the old disk to the new one. Regards. Thank you for your help.

Hi, I am a highly experienced sysadmin. I can help you with this. Usually the reason it will not boot is because the boot partition was not properly configured and mirrored to both drives. So when one failed it couldn't boot from the other. I did such restorations of boot process via rescue mode multiple times. Please let me know if you are interested to discuss details. THanks

Hi, I have more than 5 years of experience in troubleshooting regarding such issue. As of now the cause of system not booting, is that the GRUB is installed on the failed disk. So,Firstly we need to install the grub in rescue mode and after that we need to rebuild the raid.
