IIS config, ASP site move

I need someone knowledgeable in IIS and ASP to assist in moving a web site written in ASP to a HIPAA compliant web host, Windows Server 2012. I have installed IIS and ASP.NET components to the server and moved the files to the wwwroot directory on the server. However the [login to view URL] page does not display. I am getting a server error 500 when I access the public IP. I am looking for assistance in getting IIS configured properly and getting the site operational on the new server. The site is an asp application that allows preregistered users to log onto and upload/download files from 'their' directory. The user logs in using their username and password that are assigned. They can upload files using a browser based file browser to see the files on their own machine and can see and download files from their directory on the web server. Each user has a separate directory to hold their files and each directory/user is private. Each user directory is flat, no subdirectories allowed. The site is secure and needs https security. The site was created in .net and uses .asp pages. The current application files are intact and the directories and files are available.
