Ensure our audio application will work on the widest array of sound cards

ClearOne needs someone with at least 5 years of experience working with a variety of PC sound cards to evaluate an audio application that is still in development and tell us how to make sure our application will work properly on the widest possible array of sound cards. The deliverable will be a report containing a set of recommended application features that will ensure high quality microphone audio capture on the broadest array of different types of PCs for an audio and video conferencing application. The report should address audio sample rates, the set of all optional bits per sample that should be supported, the best way to determine whether microphone gain is required, and set that gain correctly, and methods to detect sound cards that are providing poor audio quality and either compensate for those problems or inform the user that their sound card is generating poor audio.
