C# Program that Runs as Service, Polls for Files, and Creates Excel Spreadsheet.

I am an expert C# developer, have worked on a similar project as yours. It polled on a directory and checked for new files and if any new file found or any file is modified it sent the file over a tcp protocol. I like to produce code which is not only readable and understandable but is also extendible. I have gone through the attached .docx file..Here is my understanding 1-Three directories are there a)Starting (polling will be done for new files) b)Processing (Status update with percentage) c)Completed (After processing xlsx file will be copied here, Old files be deleted after one day) 2-Once new file is found in Starting directory, program will automatically fetch and read the stuff line by line (please clarify whether the format of file always remain the same ?) 3- character (^) will be used as a field separator.. Some clarification is required for ([char]##) removal 4-if the line starts with "SpecialProcessing" then several functions will be performed based upon values (This needs a bit of discussion. a)SpecialProcessing:Value:(A1)"Text to Populate with"(General,1*,1*,bold)** -->Cell A1 be populated with "Text to Populate with" -->Font will be bold , what does General mean here, is it alignment, also 1* 1* needs a discussion b) all rules will be implemented 5-Please specify if line does not start with SpecialProcessing then data will be moved to excel as it is ? 6-Hopefully microsoft excel will not need to be installed on server, i will use OpenXML Looking forward to have a chat with you to discuss further.

Hi I have read and saw the guidelines given on the document. I can do this effectively. Here are my understanding please confirm if I am correct: The final exe file will keep running in the desktop with a thread looking every 30secs for new files. And whatever found it will process them accordingly. The main question is, as you have said it should look at the server without any login credentials. I hope the server allows and network based API to do that. Otherwise without the login credentials accessing files from a different PC is not possible.
