I have a need for a service that will run on a windows server as a windows service. This application must be able to recover from errors that may happen inside the service and remain running. This is simply for the service that monitors a specific directory and has an event when a file is created. I have all the other code that goes inside the project once this complete. I do not have the time to research this and develop it that is why I am hiring someone. The only other requirement is that it runs at specific times 8:00 am EST to 2:30EST. This is the only requirement and the project is not that difficult, I just need someone with experience with this type of application.

I have already made a similar program. Instead of Windows Service, i would suggest the use of automatic windows scheduled task as service has many overheads as compared to continuous running task. we have more control and can easily schedule even the timings etc. If you would like to go for Windows service, i can do that too, but the service always requires installation.

I'm a professional .NET developer with about 5 years of experience in commercial projects. Currently I'm working full-time in an outsourcing company in Ukraine, seeking for additional part-time job for getting more experience. The project doesn't seem to be complex, so I guess it can be done in couple of days. The only unclear requirement for me now is "an event when a file is created" What kind of event is this and what could the consumer be of this event? But I guess, it shouldn't affect the estimate much.
