The objective of the project to analyze and design a steel building for gravity and wind forces, assuming seismic forces do not control design. Students shall work in teams to estimate gravity and lateral loads on a building. The teams will use modern software to determine the structural response to external loads and design selected components of the structural system. Students shall also perform hand calculations to design selected structural elements using AISC LRFD, then compare their results to the design completed using the computer program.
