Write an article about the typical life of children in your country

I came from a poor family, growing up with seven (7) siblings. My Mother was a school teacher for many years, assigned in various villages within my place. While my Father was an ordinary Philippine Air Force personnel assigned in Manila --- away from us. My sisters and I used to play clays, and we molded dust mixed with water to make a fancy pot and casserole for our fancy house made of shoe boxes. We are able to eat three times a day, but understandably, not the complete meal. We had a neighbor who has relatives in the US, and would throw chocolate bars through her window for us to share. I grew up as a quiet lady, inferior and an introvert. When I was in the State University, i have to bring packed lunch and eat in the comfort room for I only have dried fish or boiled egg as viand. Every day I am late because travel time from home to my school takes 45-minute jeepney ride, and I still need to feed the chicken before am allowed to leave. I studied hard to earn a degree with the aim of helping my family, worked part-time as investment planner in an insurance company to be exposed to the market and to have a chance to understand the dealings of other people towards me. After graduation, I went to Manila to look for a job and subsequently took the career exam for professionals and passed it. Presently, am working as Procurement Officer of an international organization based in my Province - Iloilo.

You didn't mention my country, it's Croatia. But I think Croatia might be very interesting to Canadian kids, because 20 years ago we had war here and people suffered in it. It had influence on kids today, because those were their parents. And also, many of them immigrated to Canada, so maybe some kids they socialize with are their friends.
