Hi, hope you are doing well. I can help you establish a communication protocol over DC power line as i am mechatronics engineer and expert in embedded systems. I have vast experience working with protocols i.e UART/USART, SPI, I2C, CAN,RS-232,RS-485, one-wire and have also built custom protocols for clients. For this project i would suggest one-wire as this protocol uses the power line for data transmission and works with various power levels and its a two level protocol.
