Art Exhibition Project

Assignment Overview Imagine that you are a curator at an art museum. Your task is to curate a temporary exhibition for your museum that demonstrates what you've learned this semester on a topic that interested you the most. An exhibition (exposition, or show) is a temporary compilation of certain artworks for public display. While typically these are in-person installations in an art museum, yours will be virtual. You will compile your project using the features of Adobe Creative Cloud ExpressLinks to an external site. presentation. As the curator of this exhibition, you will compile 10 different artworks for your show surrounding a theme of your choice. The theme should not simply be a singular time period or artistic movement, but rather, think more broadly in terms of some of the theoretical ideas we've covered in this class - or that you're discussing in other classes! (in the end, your exhibition should ideally include works from multiple time periods and movements. If it doesn't, you'll need a really excellent theme to convince me.) The works in your exhibition should also be diverse in terms of medium (painting, sculpture, photography, video, print, performance art, etc.). Depending on your theme, you might not be able to incorporate all of the possible mediums, but be sure to not turn in a project of all paintings! Assignment Requirements: 1. A title. Your exhibition needs a name and it has to be enticing! 2. Ten (10) total artworks compiled under a unifying theme of your choice. (You should be pulling from your textbook, class lectures, and any research you've done for various discussion posts.) 3. 1-2 page (double-spaced) exhibition description. This should not be any shorter than one page. What is your exhibition theme? Why did you choose it? Why is it important for viewers to be exposed to your exhibition? Overview of the works you've selected. 4. "Wall text" for each work of art. The wall text that accompanies a work of art in a museum typically includes the following: title/label (see #5), brief description of the work (can include a visual description and an analysis of the meaning of the work), notes on the way the work fits into the theme of the exhibition. You can easily find photographs of wall text online for reference. The length of these wall texts can usually range from 1-3 paragraphs. Not all of your wall texts will be the same length. Some will require more description than others. Use your discretion. 5. Label each artwork Please use the format below for labeling each work: Artist last name, first name. Title of the work in italics, year, medium.
