Drupal Help Needed - Random Nodes in Home Page Blocks -

Forgive my lingo if I'm talking to you in Joomla-speak, I think I have a pretty good handle on Drupal terminology... I am generally a Joomla-site-builder, but this site my client wants built with Drupal, so I need a little help with setting up the various blocks on the home page. I don't need help with loading content into the site, or building the theme / template... just need help with managing the home page content per the following notes. ================================= Content Types (Work, People, Blog) We'll have a series of 'blocks' on the home page, displaying nodes from the above content types in this order: 1. (Free space) - This is not tied to one of the content types, it could just be a regular node / article teaser shown using a block. 2. Work - specific 'work' node teaser chosen (category, title, image, link to read more) 3. Work - specific 'work' node teaser chosen 4. Blog - teaser blog post chosen by 'most recent first' (category, tags, image, title, intro text, read more) 5. People - 1 staff person chosen globally at random - cannot be the same node as other "People" blocks on home page 6. People - chosen globally at random 7. Blog - another teaser blog post - 2nd in 'most recent first' order (see #4 above - this is the next post in line) 8. People - 1 staff person chosen globally at random 9. People - 1 staff person chosen globally at random 10. Work - specific 'work' node teaser chosen 11. Work - another specific 'work' node 12. Blog post - another teaser blog post - 3rd in 'most recent first' order (see #4 and #7 above) 13. People - chosen globally at random 14. People - chosen globally at random 15. Blog post - another teaser - 4th in date order 16. People - chosen globally at random 17. People - chosen globally at random 18. Work - another specific work node 19. Work - another specific work node 18. Blog post - another teaser - 5th in date order 19. People - chosen globally at random 20. People - chosen globally at random 21. Blog - another teaser - 6th in date order 22. People - chosen globally at random 23. People - chosen globally at random 24. Work - another specific 'work' node ================================= Hopefully this makes sense so far - this is basically what I need your help with for now. I'm able to set up Drupal, provide you FTP / admin access, and load all of the content. I don't need help with that part. I need help with building the home page management piece for this - the "People" and "Blog" pieces do not need much as they are chosen at random or by date. For the "Work" blocks, my client needs to be able to change these out at-will using the Drupal admin area. I'm hoping we can give them some sort of an admin panel to manage these, but it'd be okay if we just hand-code this and just show me where to plug in the Work-Node-ID-#'s. The other part that will need a bit of custom work, I'm pretty sure, is the "Random people" throughout the home page blocks, there are 30 staff members and 12 are to be shown at random on the home page, scattered throughout the blocks like in the above #1-24 list. It can't show the same person twice.
