This is actually a ecommerce website for education [login to view URL] site design and site layout will be similiar to [login to view URL] Student login to * Plan Career [For now, we plan to put only basic career planning related articles from education experts across country] * Discussion in forums * Browse and Compare colleges * Contact college for further information * Apply Online and pay application fee online * Buy Study Material online College login to * Manage list of applicants * Shortlisted applicants * Plan entrance exams (allocate exam center etc) Here is what I am looking for 1. Compare different open source technologies of the application managment and suggest one. My understanding that PHP may not be the best technology for this one, JAVA with MYSQL may do the [login to view URL] definitely make sense for front end (website) but I am not 100% sure about the Application engine. If you have experience in enterprise application like Siebel , SAP you will find it easier to relate this application engine to "Assignment Manager". Assignment Manager has list of input parameter and list of assignment rules (on basis of which it makes assignments). So w.r.t our project, INPUT PARAMETERS - a. List of applicants with their demographic details like city,state [login to view URL] of Exam Centers with their capacity RULE FILES City = Nashik => Center = Mumbai OR It could be based on user pin code (just like linkedin finds out people within 100 kms of the input pincode )or More Techie like, using google maps api, get latitude and longitude information about the applicant and allocate him nearest center. just like [login to view URL] 2. Which open source CMS is required for maintaining college profiles and eduction articles in "Plan" section? I am consdering Joomla and Drupal. Which one you suggest and why? 3. Quotation 4.
