**I have created several .exe programs in vb6 that I want to send to potential clients along with the accompanying text and data files in one package..**
**My potential clients will be using win95, 2000 or XP. They may not know a lot about computers so when I attach my package to an email or have it downloaded from a server it should be a simple to open as possible.**
** **
**I want to create a single “package?? which will be self extracting placing the files in a folder named “POSCheap?? in the client’s “Program File??folder and then place an icon on the client’s desktop. Several of the exe programs require additional .dll, ocx and runtime files.**
** **
**I assume I have to do the following**
**1. Create a new .exe file that includes all the .dll, oc, and other needed files for each of the .exe programs.**
**2. Create a “package “which would include the new .exe packages plus the needed text and help files. Added to this package would be a self extracting feature which would automatically create the new folder with the needed files and the ability to create an icon on the desktop which would point to one of the .exe programs ([login to view URL]).**
** The icon would be nice but not absolutely necessary but the extraction would be very nice since many of my potential clients may not have Winzip and not necessarily computer literate.**
** I would like to keep this simple until I know if there is any interest in these programs. Therefore, I have looked at the Package and Deployment (P&D) feature in VB6 with SP6. I don’t quite understand it. I also read there may be problems with the resulting “package?? working on various** **OSs****. However, that problem may be fixed.**
