Write RCode to webscrape long list of pages efficiently

I work for a company that wantd to webscrape a lot of its pages for information. I've built a solution in R which pulls each webpage in and scrapes the page for the information I want (Twitter handles) one at a time. This isn't efficient enough as it take far too long and the process gets slower as more information is saved. I'm looking for a coder who's able to improve on my code to be able to webscrape around 10,000 pages without using loops (I think an apply function would work?)
