We are looking for someone to help code data from questionaires 1. Pull in all the documents and make sure that they are all named correctly and on the far right make sure you make your notes there. 2. two options here: 2.1 start to code as you read, just let start to code and highlight important or interesting aspects. You can multiple code some texts or only one code per quote, your choice. 2.2 read all the transcripts and then start to code... I think its a design decision that you make... NB make a memo in [login to view URL] and tell yourself what you did and why you thought it was a good decision at the time 2.3 NB! for each code make sure you define you thinking of the name you gave the code, this you do on the right of each code by click on the code you created and then in the *comment section*, far right of the screen, to give it your definition. This is very important as you will forget what the code means after you have coded for hours, or if you want to merge codes etc... Do not skip this step you will not be able to make sense of your codes unless you do this manually or are a coded master...Use the code manager to check which codes does not have definitions, its really useful later when you need to build your network. 3. Open the code manager and start to manage your codes... what i mean is that you add to the front the code the proposed code group, for example: Product - kraft beer; Product - Coffee, Product - delivery concerns, etc.. this you do after you have started to code and see some patterns emerging, don't stress here, you will sort out the codes in the next step, but work hard to get through all the documents you want to code. 4. Create your code groups, in the code manager, start at the top and add the code group to the code used as a prefix. This helped to A-Z sorted the codes to see what still needed to be grouped. Use the code group manager and remember to make memos and complete the comment section on the right for each code group... lots of work here... 5. Color code the code groups, this will be useful later when you need to build networks. This can be done in the code manager. 6. Open the network manager... NB, pull in the code groups that you think makes a theme or category... Make a memo note why you pulled them together, for example a network for Opportunity included code group for marketing, new ventures, growth, etc... your choice. make a new network in the network manager as you see fit. 7. Start to pull in code groups and then link the codes that has a relationship. This is tough exercise and do not underestimate the complexity. First do it per code group then link possible inter code group links etc. Use the code group manager to identify codes that have not been linked(!!) this also helped a lot, This is the "Density" indicator in the code manager, a 0 indicate the code has not been linked to another code... 8. Then go back and check the code network again... this is a lot of work.. check the quality and do not blindly just link. This is where you link non code group codes to other code groups... for example Product - delivery concerns, the quote could be linked to both Product code group and Challenges code group and supports or contradicts another quote or code... check out the interconnected codes.. 9. Now you should have a complex array of networks, check the code manager if you have linked the coded that needs linking, eg the density number. 10. Use the analysis tools to answer the research question or assignment questions. I thought it as the conversion section... eg now you've build this huge monster of networks etc, but to answer the RQ or assignment question is now really easy because you can pull in the only focus on the question. There are two main tools, check out some YouTube videos on the use of the them, 11. Remember to use the export function to excel, it really helps to do further work in a known working platform (word, excel)
