I currently have an Offline Downloader project that was written in VB 6.0. It uses events to perform all the downloads etc. and works pretty much like any other Offline Downloading tool. I would like you to adjust the code so that it does the following: Cache feature If a file currently on the to-Download list already exists in the Download folder (and has the same filesize), I need you to stop that download from happening, and set its event to Completed (FileDownloadOK).The point to this is that we dont waste anymore time or bandwidth re-downloading files that were already downloaded earlier. I need a php (or perl) program that will take as input a) a file name b) a file size in the form: pdf&filesize=256151 The program will read the directory, find the file and verify the file size. If the file is found and the size matches, the program will display an attractive web page - with the message "Upload Successful" if the file is not found or the size doesn't match, the program will display an attractive "Upload Unsuccessful" and send an email to the the webmaster - indicating the failure. the "fuzzy part" is that the program that generates the filesize number is an FTP uploader and doesn't necessarily know anything about how the file size is represented on our server. I am about to begin backing up my dvd collection. I have started by generating .mpg (mpeg2) files for my 1st dvd. The problem is, the filesize is huge, close to 8 Gigs. I want to convert the .mpg file to the smallest filesize format out there, without sacrificing quality. The movies are full dvd, 720x480 near 9,800,000 bitrate. I want to make the filesize the smallest possible, but agian, without sacrificing quality. I prefer the movies once converted, stay 720x480, and I'd like to stay as close to the bitrate as possible. I've seen some .3gp and .divx movies before. They are either tiny, 166x80 or 240x180, and once blown up to full screen, look grainy as heck. I do love their filesizes though.
